Town Church

Information

Instead of the old castle chapel, the citizens built the Bietigheim town church, a church of St. Mary, in 1401 at the instigation of Countess Antonia Visconti, in order to save the way to the parish church of St. Peter on the other side of the Metter.

Although there were regular church services, the town church did not receive the full rights of a parish church until 1496.
